New TV contract for the 3rd division.
The DFB will pay out more money to the clubs in the future and will abolish the Monday games.
Munich
- Countless times it's been requested by fans.
From next season, the protests will no longer be needed, at least in the 3rd division.
The Monday games are history.
From 2022/23 almost all games will take place at the weekend.
This is part of the new contract between DFB and Telekom.
MagentaSport has secured the rights for all matches in the 3rd league and is paying a handsome sum for them.
The clubs feel it too: They get 67 percent more money than for the current season.
Monday games abolished: new TV contract for the 3rd division – “important interim goal achieved”
The bad news for the fans: Hardly any games are broadcast on free TV anymore.
But the DFB listened to its fans and adjusted the kick-off times.
The unloved Monday games are completely abolished.
That was a stated promise.
A game will take place on Friday as usual.
Core time is Saturday afternoon, here a total of six games take place, one of which can optionally be moved to the later afternoon or evening.
There will be three games on Sundays.
At new times: 4.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.
The 19.30 game is considered a substitute for the Monday game.
"We are very happy with the result and are extremely confident about the future," says Tom Eiler, chairman of the 3rd division committee, about the new contract.
“This was not least possible due to the daily work and ongoing development in the clubs and the associated increase in the attractiveness of the 3rd division.
The clubs and the 3rd division committee have achieved an important, groundbreaking interim goal," the DFB quoted him as saying.
3rd division: DFB works with fans – “we want to build on that together”
"At the same time, we sent a signal and set standards with the upstream participation process, in which, among other things, the active fan scenes were involved and which led to the conscious, coordinated waiver of the Monday games.
We want to continue to build on this together,” explains Eiler.
Peter Frymuth, DFB Vice President for Match Operations and Football Development, notes: “This contract is a strong sign for the 3rd division.
On this basis, the league can continue its positive development in terms of attractiveness and attention.
After the previous measures from the Task Force 3rd League, the next step towards the necessary economic stabilization has been taken with the considerable increase in revenues.
I hope that the clubs use the improved conditions sensibly and in the best possible way. "(moe)
