The management of Hapoel Tel Aviv announced today (Wednesday) support and green light for the move.
The announcement of the Reds' executive committee reads: "The executive committee of Hapoel Tel Aviv met yesterday to discuss a number of issues, including the registration of five foreigners for the league games.
"Consideration of all aspects, including the professional and financial, and in light of the general feeling that there is a desire among a large part of the association's members to promote the process of registering five foreigners for the league games, the management decided to support the idea, but subject to the approval of the issue at a meeting of members."
"Part of the reason for the move lies in the understanding that it can be promoted without significantly affecting the local players' minutes within the local league and while correctly distributing loads during the challenging season that lies ahead of us.
If and when the issue is approved by the association's members, the management will use all the means at its disposal to raise the required funds.
As a reminder, Hapoel Tel Aviv has seven foreigners on the roster, and following James Young's injury, two of the remaining six are not supposed to play in the league games, and will only play in Europe, which may affect the team's ability and performance.
Now the team is expected to register five foreigners and seat only one foreigner in the stands each game.
