The Scottish Football Association today announced the use of video assistant referee (VAR) technology in the Scottish League competitions, starting this month.
Reuters reported that the match between Hibernian and Johnston, scheduled for Feral 21 this month, will witness the use of technology for the first time in the competition, and all 12 clubs participating in the tournament will be equipped to use the technology.
The technology will also be used in cup matches, the semi-finals and final of the League Cup.
In turn, Crawford Allan, head of referee operations for the Scottish Football Association, said: "We have worked extensively over the course of about three years to get to this point, and we tested the technology in every stadium in the tournament as part of a training process, and we are ready to launch it."
