After nine Bundesliga games without a win, coach Pellegrino Matarazzo was fired at VfB Stuttgart.
Despite the poor record, many are now asking the question: why at this point in time?
Stuttgart – Michael Wimmer has come into focus at VfB Stuttgart.
If the Swabians don't conjure up a successor for the released Pellegrino Matarazzo, the previous assistant coach will be on the sidelines as an interim coach against VfL Bochum (Saturday, October 15, 3:30 p.m. / Sky).
Not an ideal situation, but one that obviously cannot be changed quickly.
Especially since sports director Sven Mislintat, true to his style, wants to find the most sustainable solution for the coaching position.
Because he would like to maintain continuity and would like to hire a coach again for “a thousand days, a hundred games and even more”.
VfB Stuttgart: Zsolt Löw and Domenico Tedesco have canceled
However, the sports director should have become painfully aware that the coaching market is not a request concert.
According to media reports, Zsolt Löw and Domenico Tedesco have already canceled.
As the
picture
reported, VfB should also be interested in Bayern's assistant coach Dino Toppmöller, but it should be difficult to get rid of the record champions.
In any case, VfB is currently not the best place to go in the eyes of many.
Not only because the Stuttgart team is in 17th place in the table, but also because the traditional Swabian club is once again in a state of upheaval with an unclear outcome.
Too many ambiguities at VfB Stuttgart make it difficult to find a coach
The power structure in terms of sporting competence is changing at VfB.
Most recently, Mislintat was the man who paved the way and is now in charge of finding a coach.
However, it is completely unclear whether the sports director will extend his contract, which expires in 2023.
In addition, CEO Alexander Wehrle signed Sami Khedira and Philipp Lahm, two opinionated advisors, as well as ex-VfB professional Christian Gentner as head of the licensed player department, who are supposed to broaden the club's footprint.
So far, however, it is uncertain to what extent this new structure will work.
For many a possible coach candidate, these open questions should have a deterrent effect, which is why the Stuttgart team is threatened with a deadlock in the search.
So it's hardly surprising that some people are legitimately asking whether Matarazzo's dismissal was too hasty.

VfB Stuttgart took a step forward against Union Berlin
According to a
kicker
report in the run-up to the bankruptcy against Union Berlin, the former Stuttgart coach should at least have had another chance against VfL Bochum.
Based on this, the decision to pull the ripcord after the narrow 1-0 defeat against the Bundesliga leaders from Berlin seemed a bit unfortunate.
Also because the team offered a fighting performance in the duel with the Köpenickers and made a step forward.
Sovereign and suitable for Mislintat would have been to give Matarazzo until the winter break in a month.
Until then, VfB boss Wehrle could have taken care of extending the sporting director's contract.
Clarity in the personnel Mislintat would certainly have been helpful when looking for a coach.
