The mood at TSV 1860 is not nearly as good as the starting position.

A comment from Uli Kellner on the situation with the lions.

Second place in the table, a whopping ten points more than a year ago after eleven match days.

The best start to the season in 51 years was just celebrated at the lions, the completely renewed team, the coach, who seemed to be doing everything right.

But suddenly: frightening appearances like in Elversberg (1: 4) and against Ingolstadt (1: 2) displace the good impression from late summer.

The mood in this 1860 autumn: not nearly as good as the sporting starting point.

This has a lot to do with a development that Michael Köllner didn't seem to take seriously for a long time.

At the same time, his team steadily decreased, first playfully, then aggressively (excluding Verlaat, who was always motivated to the hilt).

The defeat against Ingolstadt in particular gives food for thought.

Jokes in the pre-game press conference.

Difficult to understand personal data (Kobylanski played, Morgalla not).

A match plan that played into the opponent's hands.

Ingolstadt fought to the limit of what was allowed and beyond - it was the lions who had unpaid scores to settle, but the team didn't even notice that in the better second half.

Pleasing: Köllner has now taken up the fight against the sluggishness - visible to everyone.

In training on Tuesday he gave the Lorant and let the players sprint until they dropped.

In the press conference on Thursday, he seemed more serious and less excited than before the Ingolstadt game.

Köllner knows that in a season before which he raised the maximum of expectations, no lengthy phases of weakness can be accepted.

From the majority of patient fans maybe.

But not from the club management, which gives the coach little credit after two fourth places.

The best proof: Köllner's contract (until 2023) has not yet been extended - which annoys him and could be expensive in 1860 if he hopes to be promoted.

In a relaxed moment during the summer break, Köllner shared that he would like to shape a very long era at 1860.

He still can.

His drive to show it to internal skeptics should be as great as his motivation to finally make it to the 2nd Bundesliga at the fourth attempt.

In order to get the time and the necessary rest for this, a trend reversal must already be discernible in Osnabrück on Saturday.

Wiesbaden a week later could be another relaxed home party - or already a game of fate.
