The EC Peiting and the Tölzer Löwen delivered an entertaining Oberliga derby - including a curious goal decision and an overtime.

Peiting – In the last season together, 2016/2017, the “Tölzer Löwen” had won all six games against EC Peiting.

And the first derby of this Oberliga season also went to the team from Bad Tölz.

With 3:4 after extra time, the people of Peiting had to admit defeat yesterday, Friday.

"The better team doesn't always win the game," said "Löwen" coach Ryan Foster.

"Luck was on our side." ECP coach Anton Saal, on the other hand, saw a "deserved victory" for the guests.

From the middle of the first third, according to Saal, the distances to the opponents became too large.

With a view to the many opportunities that resulted from this, Saal said: "There is a lot of video material to study." Nevertheless, the ECP trainer also pointed out several post hits by his team in the middle third.

The ECP had gone into the derby weakened by replacements.

Manuel Bartsch, Marco Habermann and Tim Rohrbach were absent, as was Felix Brasdsard, who was out due to a cold.

The “Lions” responded to the first action by David Miller with a clever pass to Ludwig Nirschl, who was allowed to drive freely towards ECP keeper Florian Hechenrieder and scored the 1-0 – 50 seconds were played.

With a nice individual action, Miller made it 1-1 (4th).

The effort was there: Samuel Payeur (in the red jersey) had numerous actions on the target in the derby against the "Tölzer Löwen" and scored two goals.

From then on it went back and forth, and it was amazing how easily the "Lions" in particular came up with top-class chances.

After being outnumbered (7th), Peiting came on the power play (9th).

Marc Besl took three shots, but failed to score.

The ECP finally took the lead – in a curious way.

Samuel Payeur smashed in from the right and the puck seemed to have bounced off the inside of the post.

The game continued, on the other side Tölz' Henry Sihling had a huge chance.

During the following interruption, the referees consulted each other - and awarded the ECP the 2:1 (12th).

After that, the Peitinger lost access to the opponent.

The "lions" appeared several times in front of Hechenrieder.

Nirschl steered the disc from close range to the post instead of into the goal (18').

The equalizer had already come before that: After a pawn trick by Dominik Gißibl, Oliver Ott made it 2-2 (16 ').

In the middle third, Peitinger continued to have problems consistently disrupting Bad Tölzer in their own zone.

Powerplay with a numerical tie - that's what it looked like in front of Hechenrieder's goal.

However: The people from Peiting, who repeatedly benefited from the guests' loss of targets, had the clearly better chances.

Thomas Heger hit the post (23').

Quirin Spies (24th) and Marc Besl with a violent shot (28th) were also unsuccessful.

ECP captain Andreas Feuerecker took aim from the blue line and the puck touched the crossbar (32').

Towards the end of the third, the people from Peiting managed to establish themselves in the Tölzer zone.

Payeur (36th) and Louis Postel (37th) had a hit on the racket, but failed to keeper Josef Hölzl.

The same applied to Feuerecker,

The final third began for the ECP with a one-minute deficit, but he survived the situation without any problems.

A little later, Payeur shot at the "Löwen" goal, and when keeper Hölzl was still trying to get hold of the puck, the Canadian poked the puck into the goal himself to make it 3-2 (42').

Bad Tölz put the pressure on, but Sean Morgan and Hechenrieder, who were falling, used their combined strength to prevent the equalizer (45').

Immediately afterwards, Anton Engel scored the 3:3 (46th);

he had been able to unpack the farmer's trick absolutely unchallenged.

As in the first third, it went up and down.

Peiting's Payeur failed after a solo to Hölzl (47th).

A strong Hechenrieder save after losing a disc saved the ECP from conceding a goal (51st).

Following an urge phase by the "Löwen", Markus Czogallik just missed a goal from close range (56').

David Diebolder (58th) was also unlucky, on the other hand Lukas Gohlke prevented a goal with his last effort against Nicklas Huard.

In overtime, the people from Peiting were briefly at odds, Nirschl went off alone and completely unchallenged and scored to make it 4:3 (62nd).
