Leipzig's Konrad Laimer already had one leg at FC Bayern, but the transfer fell through.

Now the record champion receives financially strong competition.

Leipzig – The transfer saga about Konrad Laimer (25) is apparently going into the next round.

In the summer, the Austrian midfield director was about to switch from RB Leipzig to FC Bayern.

Laimer is considered the player of choice for FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann (35) - both worked successfully together at RB for two years.

But after weeks of negotiations, the transfer finally fell through.

Konrad Laimer

Born on May 27, 1997 in Salzburg, Austria

Positions: Central Midfield, Defensive Midfield, Right Midfield

Clubs: RB Salzburg (2007-2014, 2015-2017), FC Liefering (2014/2015), RB Leipzig (since 2017)

Market value: 28 million euros (Source: Transfermarkt.de)

FC Bayern: Laimer can negotiate with other clubs from January - new competition for FC Bayern

“I would have been ready to make the move in the summer.

It was very close, but Leipzig's go-ahead didn't come," the midfielder explained later.

Laimer's dream club seemed to have been FC Bayern until the very end.

The Austrian's contract in Leipzig expires on June 30, 2023.

Six months before the end of the contract – i.e. in January – Laimer is likely to negotiate with other clubs without RB’s consent.

A contract extension is currently unlikely.

Logically, FC Bayern is considered the top favorite in the race for Laimer.

But now financially strong competition is getting ready.

As the

reports, Chelsea FC of all people is interested in the national player from the Alpine republic.

Blues boss Todd Boehly (49), who was last responsible for throwing out Thomas Tuchel (49), is said to have targeted the Austrian.

According to media reports, Boehly has already reached a verbal agreement with RB striker Christopher Nkunku (24) about a transfer next summer.

In doing so, he became aware of Laimer, according to the

RB connection at Chelsea?

FC Bayern is worried about Nagelsmann's dream player

And there may be another RB connection.

According to information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (29), squad planner Christopher Vivell (35), who was fired by Leipzig just last week, is about to sign with Chelsea.

In London he is said to be the new chief scout.

Vivell has known Laimer for years and could make the transfer more likely.

The 25-year-old midfielder is currently in rehab after syndesmosis surgery.

Since the change of ownership from Roman Abramowitsch (55) to Boehly, Chelsea FC is back among the financially strongest clubs in the world.

FC Bayern will have to stretch their necks to lure Konrad Laimer, the desired player for Nagelsmann, to Säbener Strasse.
