The troubled second division soccer team SpVgg Greuther Fürth has parted ways with coach Marc Schneider.
As the club announced the day after the 2-2 win against Hansa Rostock, the 42-year-old Swiss said goodbye to the team on Saturday when they left the team. Initially, assistant coaches Rainer Widmayer and Stefan Kleineheismann took over the training.
"We've tried a lot in the last few weeks, Marc tried everything too, but in the end we have to say that we've improved slightly in terms of points, but not in the way we all imagine," said Managing Director Sport Rachid Azzouzi.
The Bundesliga relegated team is stuck in the bottom of the table with just one win in twelve games. In the cup there was a defeat against the fifth division team Stuttgarter Kickers.
Schneider only took over the coaching position at Kleeblatt from Stefan Leitl in the summer.
Previously, he had held the coaching position in Beveren, Belgium, and at FC Thun in Switzerland.
Third change of coach in the second division
“Unfortunately we didn't get the points we could have.
I'm sure that the team will work its way out of the current situation," said Schneider, who thanked the players, club and employees.
Arminia Bielefeld (Daniel Scherning instead of Uli Forte) and 1. FC Nürnberg (Markus Weinzierl instead of Robert Klauß) had previously changed their coaches in the current second division season.
