When they are close to each other at the top of the Spanish league, Real Madrid and Barcelona meet tonight (Sunday) for the first Clasico of the season knowing that the winner - if there is one - will open a gap of three points from the loser.
The host, of course, comes as the holder of the Champions League and the champion of Spain, but in the last meeting with the hated rival they suffered a resounding 4:0 in the eyes of their home crowd, and the Catalans will have an opportunity tomorrow to beat the Blancos while keeping a clean sheet for the second time in a row - something that has not happened since November 2010. Who Wanting to do it more than anyone is Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who is on a streak of 624 minutes without conceding and must add another 90 to approach the club record belonging to Claudio Bravo (755).
Not surprisingly, these are the only two undefeated teams still left in Spain, with only a superior goal difference placing the Blaugrana above Real.

The most prominent disadvantage in Real Madrid is of course the goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, and his place between the posts will be filled once again by Andrey Lunin.
Antonio Rudiger who injured his face when he scored against Shakhtar Donetsk waits on the bench, with David Alaba in the center of defense and Perlan Mendy on the left.
As in most of the games against strong opponents last year, Carlo Ancelotti placed Federico Valverde on the wing and left Rodrigo on the bench.
Orlean Tshoumani came up in midfield for his first Clasico alongside the experienced Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, with Vinicius and Karim Benzema, absent from the previous Clasico, in attack.
After the poor defensive display of Eric Garcia and Gerard Pique in the 3:3 against Inter, Xavi was happy to welcome back Jules Conde who returned from injury and replaces the veteran stopper in the center of defense.
The defensive squad of Xavi, who will hope to become the first Barcelona coach since Tata Martino to win the first two Clasico meetings, is completed by Sergi Roberto on the right and Alex Balda on the left.
Gabi went down to the bench, and his place in midfield next to Sergio Busquets and Pedri was taken by Frankie de Jong.
As against the Nerazzurri, this time too the attack squad consists of Ousmane Dembele, Rafinha and Robert Lewandowski in his first official Clasico.
