After another botched start phase and intermittent setbacks, the Geretsrieder River Rats were finally able to celebrate their first win of the season with a 6:5 after extra time at EV Pegnitz.
Pegnitz/Geretsried – The Geretsried ice hockey team didn't want to come home empty-handed after the longest away trip in the Bavarian league.
This was also successful, although there were only two points instead of the hoped-for three points: The River Rats won 6:5 (1:2, 2:2, 2:1) after overtime at EV Pegnitz.
"I can't be satisfied with this game," emphasized Stefan Roth.
Once again his team had messed up the starting phase and was 2-0 down after six minutes thanks to goals from Patrick Dzemla (3rd) and Daniel Sonnenberg (5th).
"We make life difficult for ourselves every time because we have to run after a deficit," complained the ESC coach, who described the first section "as our worst third so far".
Although Jakob Heigl brought the guests back to 1:2 (10th), Sonnenberg increased the lead to 3:1 (26th) after the restart.
Michael Harrer (29th) and Ondrej Horvath in the majority (37th) ensured the gratifying 3:3 equalisation.
But instead of taking control now, Geretsrieder conceded the 3:4 through Navarra (39th) and put Ondrej Holomek (49th) on the fifth Pegnitz goal.
"It was positive again that we never let ourselves down," praised Roth.
Marek Haloda (50') and Horvath (52') made it 5-5.
However, the tireless Horvath only scored the winning goal in overtime (63').
