Jordan Paul in Golden State practice before the confrontation with Draymond Green (from Twitter)

Just two days ago Jordan Paul signed a contract extension in Golden State for four years for 140 million dollars.

But since he was savagely attacked by Draymond Green in one of the champion's training sessions, Paul kept his silence, which he decided to break and for the first time addressed the punch he received from Green.

Paul, who will also collaborate with the veteran forward this season in the hope of bringing another championship, tried to lower the flames and defended his teammate: "He apologized and was a professional. We want to win a championship and are focused on that. We are here to play basketball and everyone in the locker room is focused on that. That's all that I have something to say about it."

Although his brutal punch was documented and leaked to the media, Draymond Green was not suspended for a single game by Golden State and is expected to start in the starting five alongside Paul in the season opener on Tuesday night against the Lakers.

Last season, his third in the league with the Warriors, Paul helped the team win its first career championship and the club's fourth in the last eight seasons.

The 23-year-old guard averaged 18.5, 3.4 and 4 assists per 30 minutes per night last year.

He also led the league in free throw percentage (92.5).
