The scrum half of the women's XV of France Laure Sansus, hit in the knee on Saturday during the second group match of the Bleues at the World Cup against England (defeat 7-13), withdrew for the rest of the competition, has announced Monday the French Rugby Federation.
The Stade Toulousain player (28 years old, 32 caps) announced before the World Cup, which is being held in New Zealand (October 8-November 12), that it would be her last competition before taking her retirement.
“Following the injury contracted during the match against England, Laure Sansus suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.
It is therefore forfeited for the rest of the World Cup, ”said the FFR in a press release.

“She is replaced in the group of 32 players by Marie Dupouy (1 sel., Blagnac Rugby Féminin)”, adds the press release.
Pauline Bourdon, teammate of Laure Sansus at the club, entered in her place on Saturday in the 12th minute of the match against the "Red Roses" in Whangarei.
Laure Sansus, one of the executives of Les Bleues, was voted best player of the 2022 Six Nations Tournament, which she also finished with the title of best scorer (6 tries).
“I would have preferred to end my career differently”
She won the title of champion of France last June with Stade Toulousain, the club's first among women, before being crowned best French international at the end of September.
“You never choose your exit and my situation is a perfect example.
Of course, I would have preferred to end my career otherwise, ”says Laure Sansus, quoted in the press release, adding that she would now be the “first supporter” of Les Bleues.
After winning its first match in Pool C against South Africa (40-5), the women's XV of France lost to England (13-7), the world's first nation.
