Borussia Dortmund survived the second round of the DFB Cup.
At Hannover 96, BVB won 2-0 (1-0) despite a poor performance.
The three remaining games early Wednesday evening (Paderborn vs. Werder Bremen, Freiburg vs. St. Pauli, Sandhausen vs. Karlsruhe) all went into overtime.
BVB defended weakly against 96, for the first time Gregor Kobel had to intervene against Håvard Nielsen in the 6th minute.
Dortmund were lucky to make it 1-0: Youssoufa was almost on the baseline, Hanover goalkeeper Leo Weinkauf speculated on a cross – but Bright Arrey-Mbi deflected it into a short corner (11th minute).
Hannover remained the more dangerous team.
Again Nielsen (31st) and shortly afterwards Maximilian Beier (32nd) failed from inside left position at Kobel.
A cross pass from Hendrik Weydandt almost hit Dortmund's Emre Can in his own goal (46'), Weydandt had a good opportunity from five yards out, but the 96 center forward didn't hit the ball properly (53').
Jude Bellingham, Dortmund's most important player this season, came on in the 62nd minute.
A little later, the 19-year-old advanced into the penalty area and was tackled by Phil Neumann.
Bellingham took the penalty himself and converted it safely into the left corner (71st) to make it 2-0.
