Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended by Manchester United.

Reason are events in the game against Tottenham.

Manchester – Times are tough for the former world footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old is a banker at Manchester United and wants to leave the club, but is apparently not allowed to.

Now there is a new peak in the football drama: Manchester United has suspended CR7.

Manchester United made it short and sweet: "Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday's Premier League game against Chelsea." This brief message on the club's website announced the move on Thursday.

Then came an afterthought that almost sounds like a dig at the Portuguese: "The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for this game."

Cristiano Ronaldo suspended – Manchester United are taking action

The trigger for this step was probably Ronaldo's premature departure in the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

In the 88th minute, CR7 left Old Trafford in a frustrated reserve shirt.

The game wasn't over yet - he could have been substituted on.

Of course, the scene did not go unnoticed by the cameras and fans and triggered a wave of outrage.

"Sorry, but that's unacceptable.

It's so pathetic," said England football idol Gary Lineker after the Red Devils' 2-0 win.

Report of CR7 arrogance fit - did he openly go against coach orders?

But according to a

Dailymail

report , it was said to have been even more dramatic on Wednesday.

Accordingly, Ronaldo should not have been frustrated that he had not been substituted on earlier.

Rather, coach Erik ten Hag CR7 just wanted to switch.

Ronaldo apparently rejected the late substitution and left the stadium instead.

And team manager Erik ten Hag?

He was initially taciturn.

"I'll deal with it on Thursday," said the Dutchman.

Shortly after the incident, the coach did not want to add fuel to the fire.

But according to Dailymail

, the suspension is said to have come

from him and has found support from the club bosses.

In a conversation on Thursday, Ronaldo was informed of the decision.

So far, there has been no statement about a possible fine.

According to the English press, Ronaldo faces a maximum penalty of two weeks' salary.

That would cost CR7 more than a million euros.

It's the next sad chapter in the saga about the club hero, who just won't be happy after his return - and everyone can feel it.

The five-time world footballer left the stadium during a preparatory game in August and got into trouble, and he is still defending himself against the charges brought by the English association FA.

In April, Ronaldo slapped the phone out of a young fan's hand at Everton FC.

Cristiano Ronaldo went from bad to worse at Manchester United

It's not going well for the 37-year-old, and that's putting it mildly.

After he had unsuccessfully forced his departure in the summer (there was even speculation about a BVB change from CR7), Ronaldo is mostly just a joker, against Spurs he warmed up in the second half in vain for a long time as a substitute.

Below the dignity of a pro who continues to think he's the greatest.

So it came to the next solo effort, Ronaldo continues to maintain his reputation as an incorrigible egoist.

Ronaldo, back in Manchester since August 2021, is now even messing with people who have had his back so far.

"It's the first time I've been disappointed in him," said former Man United keeper Peter Schmeichel.

"I usually stand behind him, I understand his situation." (rjs/sid)
