The top game of the Bavarian ice hockey league takes place on Friday, October 21, in Peißenberg.

The "Miners" have the EHC Königsbrunn as a guest.

Peißenberg – The “Peißenberg Miners” are only challenged once this weekend in the Bavarian ice hockey league.

After the home game on Friday (8 p.m.) against EHC Königsbrunn, the squad of coaches Sepp Staltmayr and Stefan Ihsen will not play on Sunday.

"Such a day off is not bad at all and is good for all of us," says Ihsen, who, like some of his players, has been struggling with a cold lately.

The break on Sunday is also just right for another reason: Martin Lidl is getting married on Saturday.

Competitive games after such festivities are always a thing.

However, it is questionable whether Lidl can play in the top game against Königsbrunn on Friday: the defender, like striker Max Willberger, is not quite fit.

After all, the "Miners" can certainly fall back on Dominik Ebentheuer, who was recently ill.

Coach Ihsen is looking forward to the duel with the second in the table: "It will definitely be an interesting game against a good and attractive opponent." Vajs from Kaufbeuren.

"For me, Sternheimer is the top signing in the league and it shows how attractive the Bayernliga has become," says Ihsen.

"But we don't need to hide, we also have a good team."

The Königsbrunners not only have to struggle with a few illness-related absences.

There have recently been reports in the regional newspapers and even on BR television that the ice rink at the EHC could be closed at the turn of the year due to the uncertain and tense situation with energy prices.

In Peißenberg this is not (yet) an issue.

The extremely successful start to the season is the focus of the “Miners”.

The series - five games, five wins, 14 points - should be continued at home, in front of a hopefully good crowd.

"The team fights and works hard, and the fans appreciate that," Ihsen is confident that the hall will be full.

Three points would be just right in front of the home fans - also as an early wedding present for Martin Lidl.
