On the 13th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, SC Paderborn missed the leap to the top of the table in a 0-0 draw against Eintracht Braunschweig.

Hannover 96 climbed to fourth place after beating 1. FC Nürnberg 0-0.

In the lower half of the table, Sandhausen did not achieve the hoped-for liberation in the 1:2 (1:1) defeat against Jahn Regensburg.

Padeborn started with a lot of speed against Eintracht after the success over Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal and three victories in the league.

Braunschweig followed a similar plan and had the best chance of the first half early on thanks to Anton Donkor, who first hit the post and Fabio Kaufmann, who went over it (4th).

Paderborn, with the best offensive in the league, started again and again, but had problems asserting themselves decisively against the solid Braunschweig team.

Even standards, such as the free kick by Florent Muslija (63rd), brought nothing.

In the end Braunschweig countered dangerously.

SCP defender Jannis Heuer had to stop Luc Ihorst from scoring with a tackle (82nd).

For the first time in the season, Paderborn didn't score their own goal and failed to overtake Darmstadt 98 at the top of the table.

With Nuremberg's victories against Düsseldorf and Mannheim in the league and cup and Hanover's strong performance in the DFB Cup defeat against Borussia Dortmund, two teams with an upward curve faced each other.

In a direct duel, the teams mostly equalized, with better chances for Nuremberg in the first half.

Mats Møller Dæhli's best chance was thwarted by 96 goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler (36').

Nürnberg came out of the break more vigorously, and most of Hanover's attacking efforts fizzled out on defensively stable Nürnbergers.

Only in the 62nd minute did Derrick Köhn test FCN goalkeeper Christian Mathenia from an acute angle.

With shots just outside and over the goal (67th, 69th), Hannover got closer to the opening goal, but it was no longer enough.

In the end, the draw was performance-based.

With a win, the Sandhausen team, who were in 15th place before the match day, could have drawn level with SSV Jahn in tenth place.

But the game began with an early setback for Sandhausen, who had defeated Karlsruher SC on penalties in the DFB Cup that week: Alexandr Zhirov tried to clear with his head after a cross from Andreas Albers, but scored his own goal ( 1.).

Alexander Esswein responded immediately after a quick attack with his goal to make it 1-1 (12').

Sandhausen invested more than Regensburg at the beginning but rarely got in front of goal dangerously, like after the free kick in the 29th minute, where Jahn keeper Dejan Stojanovic was there.

Albers did better on the other side: if he failed with a header attempt at the SVS keeper (53'), he headed in a little later after the Sandhausen team failed to clear the game to make it 2-1 (70').
