Last weekend, Eyal Berkovic managed to cause a great stir after he harshly attacked the ultra-orthodox sector in the "Ofira and Berkovic" program on Channel 12.
The background for the harsh attack were the statements made recently by the chairman of Torah Judaism, Yitzhak Goldknopf ("It is more difficult to study Torah than to be a fighter on the front"). In response, Berkovic did not mince words and, among other things, called the ultra-Orthodox "idlers", "disconnected" and "The taxes are not paid."
In his opening monologue, Berkovic said: "I took to heart the two soldiers who were killed, Ido Baruch and Noa Lazar. I took it very hard and waited for this studio just to tell Mr. Yitzhak Goldknopf of Torah Judaism that he should be ashamed of himself."

"I want to ask you, Goldknopf, and think carefully at home. Who is more Jewish? You or me? As soon as Shabbat ended, there was an uproar in the networks following Berko's attack, when the chairman of Yehudud Hatoda responded with his own attack, while at the same time ultra-Orthodox media members called for Berkowitz to be removed from Channel 12.

"I express my shock and disgust at the serious insults uttered by Eyal Berkovich on Channel 12 against the ultra-orthodox public. If the words were not said in Hebrew, it would be possible to think that this was a segment of an anti-Semitic propaganda channel abroad.
Goldknopf also added: "I call on the channel's management to disavow the wild incitement and suspend the presenter until he retracts his words. I have no doubt that the presenter's words are a direct effect of Lieberman's wild incitement against the ultra-orthodox public, our answer will be given at the ballot box."

The Chairman of Religious Zionism, MK Bezalel Smotrich, also responded: "Anti-Semitic statements like those of Eyal Berkovich, the Jewish people have suffered over the years from the worst of their haters.
