SV Heimstetten is incredibly naïve and only wakes up after being 2-0 down - the regional league home game against Eichstätt is still lost.
Heimstetten
– On the green and white team bus of VfB Eichstätt, the lettering next to the club logo is emblazoned: “Die Jungs.” That vehicle is now waiting in the parking lot after the performance of the regional league club at SV Heimstetten with the engine running.
And if it were after the previous 90 minutes of play, then the SVH footballers would actually have to get on the bus.
Because they - and not the people from Eichstätt - have acted as naively and inexperienced as a gang of "boys" for long stretches in this basement duel between the tail light and the third from last in the table.
Or in the words of their coach Christoph Schmitt: "We played incredibly unclever." And that was punished by an "experienced team that took everything we offered them," said the coach.
As a result, a 2:3 lights up on the scoreboard in the sports park - which of course does not correspond to the actual final score of 2:4.
But just as the scoreboard was late several times this afternoon, so it is with the Heimstettners on the pitch.
They are now six points behind the relegation places in the table - and on SpVgg Ansbach, the upcoming opponent of the SVH.
Coach Schmitt should give each of his kickers a good pinch on the nose before kick-off for the next relegation hit.
Because this would possibly prevent Heimstettner from appearing as sleepy again as in the initial phase against Eichstätt.
After just five minutes, Sandro Sengersdorf unhappily extends a throw-in to Sebastian Graßl, who can choose a corner from just a few meters away.
From his 0:1 Fabian Eberle makes a 0:2 a little later - with the kind help of goalkeeper Moritz Knauf, who initiates the goal with a bad pass.
"Basically we score two own goals"
"Basically, we're scoring two own goals there," said coach Schmitt, whose team reduced the lead to 1:2 in the 19th minute - thanks to a penalty by Lukas Riglewski after a foul on Robert Manole.
As a result, the guests are on the trigger, but fail three times in a row in front of goalkeeper Knauf.
Since both Eichstätt's Daniel Haubner with a free kick and Riglewski with a long-range shot only hit the post shortly before the break, it goes into the dressing room with a 1:2.
At this point, Robert Manole is already sitting there, after the Heimstettner picked up two warnings within a few minutes and saw yellow and red for them.
"That was very unclever of him," says Schmitt.
"And a bit symbolic for our appearance."
In the second round, VfB increased the lead to 1:3 with a penalty kick before Severin Müller's goal gave the hosts hope again - but not for long.
Because with a counterattack to make it 2:4, Eichstätt made the decision in the 86th minute and thus sealed a well-deserved victory for "Die Jungs" against an all too boyish acting SVH.
