A new blow for the Blues and Didier Deschamps?
Jules Koundé, one of France's most consistent defenders this year, suffered an injury during the Spanish La Liga encounter between Barcelona and Valencia.
The Barça defender collapsed on the lawn in the 73rd minute, seeming to be hit in the left thigh.
What could look like a muscle injury.
If he got up, Koundé was immediately replaced by Gerard Piqué.
This is obviously not very reassuring for Didier Deschamps, whose list of 23 (or more) players selected for Qatar will be announced on November 9.
Particularly in the defensive sector, where Raphaël Varane, also affected muscularly, is already uncertain.
As a reminder, France will start its World Cup on November 22 against Australia.
Cavani also injured
In the same match, the Uruguayan striker from Valencia, Edinson Cavani, left in the 18th minute of the match, visibly injured in the right ankle.
Cavani sat on the pitch for a few minutes, touching his right ankle, then limped off the field, replaced by Marcos André in the 18th minute.
The Uruguayan striker (58 goals in 133 caps) had already missed the last two games with his team through injury at the end of September, against Iran (1-0 defeat) and Canada (2-0 success).
Two weeks ago, on October 15, he also asked to be substituted at the break because his "ankle had swollen a little", he had indicated on Movistar+ at the end of the match against Elche (2-2).
The "Matador" was on a series of four goals and an assist in the last four matches.
