In the end it was a point for ESC Dorfen against the top team from TSV Peißenberg in the 5:6 (0:0, 4:2, 1:3; 0:1) defeat after extra time.

It could have been more, almost had to be, given a two-time three-goal lead.

Dorfen – Eight penalty minutes for Peißenberg with only two of their own ensured that the ice pirates had the second-placed goalkeeper under control in the first third.

It was rarely enough for promising offensive actions, since the Miners proved to be a strong "special team" outnumbered.

Back from the break, both teams really got going.

With a shot like a line Urban Sodja chased the disc past Korbinian Sertl under the crossbar after almost 27 minutes.

By then there had already been more hot goalscoring than in the entire first third.

Both sides diligently collected penalties from referee Stefan Velkoski, although it was by no means too tough.

With two more men, Fabian Kanzelsberger (30th) crowned a strong power play to make it 2-0.

A Peißenberger was allowed in, but with a man more, Benedikt Dietrich (31.) overcame TSV goalie Sertl to make it 3-0 with a backhand.

Peißenberg was far from knocked out and forced a double majority.

A strong Max Englbrecht also had to admit defeat in the ESC goal against Martin Andrä.

And with one man more, Dominic Krabbat scored the next goal.

Should the tide turn against the ice pirates again?

Sandro Schroepfer set an example with a great break to make it 4-2 at the break.

Schroepfer opened the final round with a hit to make it 5:2, when he tanked across the goal line and didn't give Sertl a chance with a backhand flick.

The miners from the Pfaffenwinkel had finally raised their visors.

Captain Andrä (51st) gave the signal to catch up with his goal.

Brett Mecrones was unstoppable and with four minutes to go it was 5-4.

The Ice Pirates threw everything into the balance, the Miners marched incessantly and 50 seconds before the siren Athanasios Fissekis equalized.

In the overtime, the guests continued seamlessly until Mecrones made it 6:5 after 71 seconds.
