Red Bull has secured the world championship title for this year.
The penalty for exceeding the budget from the previous year still hurts the Formula 1 team.
Mexico City – Last Sunday (October 23), at the Formula 1 race in Austin, Red Bull was able to secure the title as this year's Constructors' World Champion.
Max Verstappen already snagged his world title in the previous race in Japan.
In the remaining three Formula 1 races, only the remaining places in the rankings are being fought for.
So the season isn't even over yet, and yet Red Bull has already been given quite a setback for the coming season: The FIA officially found the racing team guilty of exceeding the budget and published the verdict on Friday (October 28).
Almost two hours later, during the big press conference, Christian Horner made a statement on the FIA verdict.
He wanted to put the "accepted breach agreement" (ABA for short) in context from his point of view.
According to the Red Bull team boss, the FIA had not had any objections when the numbers were first reported in April 2021 - so everything continued in the same way.
In October 2022, however, the nasty surprise came: the first suspicion that the team had exceeded its costs.
Christian Horner put on a serious expression and his reading glasses at the press conference.

Formula 1: What penalty has the FIA considered for Red Bull?
The FIA gave a total of 13 points in the "ABA" that Red Bull violated.
This included catering, sick pay and the allocation of employees.
Meanwhile, there is also the price that the racing team has to pay for it: seven million US dollars and 10 percent less time in the wind tunnel over the next twelve months.
It's about tenths of a second per lap, but they can be decisive - especially in the fight against Ferrari and Mercedes.
"The penalty is tough, but it's just about the limit, where we believe that we can be competitive in the next few years despite the restrictions," said motorsport boss Helmut Marko in the
Sky
interview.
The opposing teams had sometimes wished for harsher penalties against the racing team, Horner also has a very clear opinion on this: lobbying.

What consequences does Aston Martin have to reckon with?
Even if Aston Martin did not exceed the budget limit in 2021, the racing team still has to pay a fine of 450,000 US dollars.
The team made a number of formal errors when submitting the budget.
Aston Martin made mistakes in twelve areas - especially in infrastructure and systems.
Despite the offense, the cost limit was not exceeded, so the penalty is much lighter than for Red Bull.

The penalty must be paid within 30 days.
Team boss Mike Krack was still very surprised a few weeks ago at the alleged budget overrun.
However, thanks to the "ABA", the team sees its mistake and shows itself to be cooperative in paying the fine on time!
