Steve Nash and the Brooklyn Nets announced this evening (Tuesday) a separation of powers when the former player left the coaching position in the team of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
The Nets started the season with a record of two wins and five losses, with the team looking bad in most of their games.
The decision on Nash's departure was mutual and the coach was not fired as it was reported at the beginning of the summer that the two superstars of the team demanded it from the club owners.
Among the candidates to replace him can be found Ima Yudoka who was suspended for a year from the Boston Celtics coaching position and Kevin Snyder who left the Utah Jazz in the summer.
"I want to thank owner Joe Tsai and general manager Sean Marks from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to coach Brooklyn," Nash said.
"It's been an amazing experience with many challenges and I'm grateful for the chance. It's been a great pleasure to work with the players, staff and management. Thank you to Brooklyn and the great fans who support this team. I wish everyone success, my family and I will continue to cheer for the Nets in hopes that they turn the season around This one is on her lips."
Nash, 48, one of the greatest former centers in history, was appointed to the position in the summer of 2020. He finished his first season as head coach with a record of 24:48, but last year Brooklyn returned and disappointed with a mediocre regular season, and a humiliating elimination in the first round of the playoffs.
In the summer, reports surfaced in the United States that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were interested in replacing the coach.
Relations cooled and the pressure took its toll.

General manager Shaun Marks added: "We want to thank Steve for everything he has contributed to this club over the past two years. Since becoming head coach, Steve has faced a series of unprecedented challenges and we are grateful for his leadership, patience and humility during this time . Personally, it was an unusually difficult decision. However, after much thought, and based on how the season started, we decided that a change was needed."
In their game tonight (between Tuesday and Wednesday) against the Chicago Bulls, Jacques Vaughn will be on the lines at Barclays Center, but the team will try to sign a coach in the coming days to replace Nash.
