Hard work for the young EVM defense

The green and yellow Moosburg will probably be able to set offensive highlights against Bayreuth on Sunday.

Two home games against Hassfurt and Bayreuth are scheduled for the weekend for the EV Moosburg ice hackers.

The Friday opponent has it all.

– The Moosburg ice hockey fans really get their money's worth this weekend: The EVM has two home games.

On Friday at 7:30 p.m., the team welcomes the state league top team from ESC Haßfurt, and on Sunday, EHC Bayreuth is at 5:15 p.m. in the Clariant Arena.

Both opponents have a long journey to the Dreirosenstadt - but otherwise have different expectations of the duel with the green and yellow.

For the Hawks from Haßfurt, the game falls into the “must win” category.

The goal of the squad of the new ESC coach Petr Sikora is clearly the promotion round.

As in the previous season, the Lower Franconians are not too specific about the number of contingent players and have five in the team with Jan Trübenekr, Dominik Tobola, Tomas Pribyl, Jakub Sramek and Daniel Hora.

They ensure plenty of goal celebrations and gave the ERSC Ottobrunn (15: 3) and EV Fürstenfeldbruck (8: 3) a good deal last weekend.

There are bound to be mistakes

So the young Moosburg defense has a lot of work to do, similar to last Sunday's 3:8 win in Dingolfing.

"Against such an opponent it is really tough for such young players.

As a coach you know that mistakes will happen against these teams.

It will be important that we don't get penalties and play really well in defense," says EVM coach Benoit Doucet.

Therefore, the experienced players and top performers are in demand against such top-class players.

They are few and far between on the defensive with the Moosburgers.

And on the offensive in Dingolfing they didn't bring what you would expect from them, says sports director Hans Eder.

Who will replace Jeremy Laframboise?

Unlike last Friday, when the EVM delivered a good team performance in their first win of the season in Selb.

The outstanding man at 6: 4 was the triple goalscorer Jeremy Laframboise.

He has now returned to Canada for family reasons and will be missing from the green and yellow in the future.

However, the 22-year-old striker is confident that EVM will be able to stay up in the league without him: "It's a strong league.

But I think we have a few talented players in Moosburg who still need to gain match practice but will continue to develop.” Coach Doucet and sports director Eder are currently trying to find a replacement for the Canadian.

But whether it will be found by the weekend seems questionable.

Reinforcements would be particularly important for the game against Bayreuth on Sunday.

Because the first leg at the Tigers was lost 2:4 two weeks ago.

At that time, the EVM coach was very dissatisfied with his squad.

“Bayreuth is a team at eye level.

If we manage to repeat the performance from the Selb game, we can get the three points on Sunday,” believes coach Benoit Doucet.
