They fought well for a long time but missed too many chances to score.

Then the ice pirates of ESC Dorfen were punished coldly at 2:6 (1:2, 0:1, 1:3) by ESV Buchloe.

Dorfen – It was the season premiere for goalkeeper Andreas Marek and defender Florian Fischer on Friday evening, but nine regular players were again missing from the field players.

From the start, Dorfen was more than equal to the buccaneers from the Allgäu.

When the opening goal was deliberately played out, Buchloe showed class, but before that Urban Sodja and Christoph Hradek had not been able to use very good scoring opportunities on the ESC side.

No matter what the ice pirates tried to do, the disc just didn't want to go into the corner.

In the case of a majority, five goals were recorded alone, but 21-year-old Dominic Guran in the guest goal was able to keep his box clean with skill and a lot of luck.

It took a long time, but Buchloe was able to free himself.

Then the old ice hockey adage "Every shot on goal is dangerous" came true when Lukas Ruf scored from the blue line to make it 2-0.

If all the filigree doesn't help, the good old farmer's trick has to be used, and Sandro Schroepfer managed to catch up with it 24 seconds before the break.

The guests took a penalty time into the second third, but Gasper Susanj equalized it with his two minutes shortly after the restart.

The game opened up and there were plenty of chances for both sides.

After a face-off and the subsequent commotion in front of Marek, Buchloe's Felix Schurer was the quickest to make it 3-1.

But Hradek, Sodja and Co. outdid themselves in missing the best goal opportunities.

"You can't blame the lads, they try everything," summed up coach Franz Steer after the second break.

Two goals behind is not the world, but the villagers seemed to have lost faith a little in the final round.

The guests played their routine out more and more.

They also had the luck that the Ice Pirates lacked.

To make it 4-1 through Nico Nieberle, the puck deflected off an ESC bat and jumped past Marek into the net.

When Marek spectacularly stopped the attacking Alexander Krafczyk, the puck found its way over the line via defender Huber's skate to make it 5:1.

Even after the sixth Buchloer goal by Philip Zabel, the Ice Pirates continued to fight bravely.

Benedikt Dietrich scored at least one more goal in the final minute.
