EC Peiting has had a six-point weekend.

As against Klostersee, the team in Deggendorf focused right from the start.

Peiting

– Ice hockey premier division EC Peiting has had a perfect weekend: the 7-0 win against Klostersee was followed by a 5-2 win at Deggendorfer SC on Sunday evening.

The win was hard work, but ultimately deserved.

"We started very well," said ECP coach Anton Saal after the game.

"We were present, looked for the duels." So the Deggendorfers were forced to make mistakes early on.

Around two and a half minutes were played when Deggendorf's goalie Timo Pielmeier made a big mistake.

Standing behind his own goal, he wanted to open his team's attack with a pass - but the puck landed in front of the bat of the approaching Lukas Gohlke, who put it over to Markus Czogallik with just one touch.

He was already wide awake, too, and put the disc into the empty goal to make it 1-0 for Peiting.

Exactly ten minutes later, Andreas Feuerecker made it 2-0 in a manpower game.

His shot flew between opponents and teammates who had blocked Pielmeier's view.

But Deggendorf also had some good chances

Ultimately, Sascha Maul managed to dance out the ECP defense.

He tanked past Feuerecker and let Manuel Bartsch stand with a body trick, then the shot – and it was 1:2.

Bartsch prevents Deggendorfer leadership

At the end of the third break, ECP attacker Thomas Heger was satisfied, as was his coach.

"We got out of the dressing room great," he said in an interview on the way to the dressing room, which was broadcast live on SpradeTV.

Peiting played well towards goal: "We kept it simple."

It was clear that the following two thirds would not be easy.

Shortly after the restart, the ECP had to survive a manpower game - they succeeded, Peiting defended well.

When Deggendorf was again one man more on the ice, Thomas Mateson aimed so precisely into the top right corner that ECP goalie Florian Hechenrieder had to admit defeat.

Shortly afterwards, Bartsch made sure that SC didn't take the lead: he held his bat in Alex Großrubatscher's shot.

Two youngsters score in Postel and Czogallik

That's how it went in the last part of the game when the score was 2:2.

A good omen, said Saal: "In the end, the third was always our best third."

However, as in the first third, the hosts made a mistake in building up the game, so Brassard came to the disc.

His shot bounced off the SC goalie, the defense couldn't get the disc away from the goal and so Peiting's Besl was able to hit the margin to make it 3:2.

On the other side, Hechenrieder saved the lead with a strong safe.

Deggendorf bit, had good opportunities.

But it was the people of Peiting who were running smoothly.

Louis Postel scored from a tight angle, Sam Payeur falling.

Saal liked what he saw: "Two nice goals." And nice three points.
