History was made today (Sunday) at the prestigious New York Marathon, when among the more than 50,000 runners, the first Israeli team also participated.
This is none other than the 'Shalwa' team, which consists of 65 members who came from all over the country, when they all ran together for a common goal: for the children of the 'Shalwa' organization, an organization that takes care of children and families with disabilities from birth to adulthood.

Each of the runners in blue and white, participating in the marathon for the Shlav organization raised donations of a minimum of NIS 25,000 for the continuation of the organization's activities and the Shlav children who receive all the treatments and programs for free.
As part of the preparation for the marathon, the team went through joint training and each of the runners was accompanied by a personal trainer in order to successfully complete a full marathon, as the team is made up of all sectors and populations in the State of Israel and is very diverse.

Among the runners, one could find the actor Itay Turgeman, who in recent years has not stopped running long distances and has even completed several marathons, and now he has reached the New York Marathon for the first time in his life.
Or Moshe Lederfein, better known as the 'Pineapple Man', who has run over 130 marathons to date, with... a pineapple on his head.
Since the delegation arrived in New York, they also had time to travel and get to know the city, and also to prepare for the big moment, when the evening before the arduous run, they all gathered at the Chabad house in the city, to eat the traditional pasta meal and even received a shot of encouragement, after they were prepared as a surprise, an exciting music video of all the members of their families.
