Arsenal remain leaders in the English Premier League after matchday 13.

The Londoners beat local rivals Chelsea 1-0 (0-0) on Sunday.

In doing so, they relegated defending champions Manchester City, who provisionally overtook the Gunners on Saturday, to top spot again.

Liverpool FC moved up to eighth place after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 (2-0).

It wasn't until November that Liverpool won away from home for the first time this Premier League season.

The reward: The Reds have climbed from ninth to eighth and have reduced the gap to fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur – only seven points separate Jürgen Klopp's team from the Champions League spot, with a game more in hand.

Match winner was Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian attacker hit the right corner early (11th minute) and followed up with a great lob just before the break.

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had no chance against this technical masterpiece (40th).

Ex-Munich player Ivan Perišić missed the greatest opportunity to equalize in the meantime: the 33-year-old Croatian had headed Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson and the ball bounced off the post from the Brazilian (16').

In the second half, the hosts stormed and created numerous chances against a now uncertain Liverpool: Perišić shot the crossbar (49') before Harry Kane found the far post from the inside right (69').

Tottenham now pressed for the equalizer, but Liverpool saved the lucky victory over time.

In the pouring rain at London's Stamford Bridge, Gabriel (63rd minute) scored the only goal to give Arsenal a deserved win.

In the game, which was played very defensively by both teams, the Gunners dominated the game, had more possession and more shots on goal.

Chelsea with the German national player Kai Havertz and the former Dortmund and Arsenal professional Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang acted too harmlessly.

The Blues have slipped back to seventh in the table after their second Premier League defeat.

The gap to Arsenal is 13 points.
