ESC Geretsried calculates something in Sunday's home game against ECH Waldkraiburg - and also has to win to get some distance to the bottom of the table.

Geretsried – Even if Hans Tauber jun.

is still a comparatively young coach - he has apparently already attended the diplomatic course.

“A six-point weekend?

I can and will never predict that, especially since we only plan from game to game,” says the new coach of the Geretsried ice hockey team.

However, it is clear that the ESC wants to win on Friday at Bayernliga bottom EC Pfaffenhofen (report see MM-Sport page 31) and of course also the home game on Sunday against EHC Waldkraiburg (5.30 p.m.).

Does that mean six counters in the final calculation?

"Of course," admits the 37-year-old, "we have to score points this weekend if we want to move up the table."

The River Rats have mixed memories of the guests from the Mühldorf am Inn district.

The last Bayernliga match was lost 3:4 after extra time on December 29, 2021;

there was a grandiose 11:4 victory in Waldkraiburg in preparation for the new season in mid-September.

"That was certainly a highlight, but it's no longer relevant now," emphasizes Tauber.

However, after the sudden change of coach - Markus Berwanger came on for the team Sergej and Alexej Piskunov - the EHC does not seem to have really got going.

Most recently, the table 13 won.

10:3 in Pfaffenhofen, but lost 2:6 at home against Schongau.

The top scorer is currently ex-Rosenheimer Florian Maierhofer;

In addition, there is a top performer in the former DEL player Christian Neuert, as well as two experienced contingent forces in defense and attack in Jan Loboda and Michal Popelka.

"They have a compact team, even if the front row scores the most points," Tauber researched.

For the time being, the ESC coach has to do without three players due to injuries: goalkeeper Martin Morczinietz (knee), Jakob Heigl (knee) and Stephan Englbrecht (shoulder).

Blue light day in the ice rink - free entry for emergency services

ESC Geretsried would like to say thank you to all volunteers from BRK, police, fire brigade and THW: At the home game against Waldkraiburg (Sun., 5.30 p.m.), the helpers can enter the ice stadium free of charge upon presentation of their service ID.

"They are often used by us," explains ESC boss Markus Janka.
