The third and last competition in the swimming World Cup round, closed tonight (between Saturday and Sunday) in Indianapolis, with another bronze medal for Anastasia Gorbenko.
The Israeli from Maccabi Kiryat Bialik finished in third place in the final of the 200 individual medley with 2:06.22 minutes.
Gorbenko concludes the prestigious round with seven medals in total and when she is ranked ninth in the honors table of the entire round.
This is the best achievement of an Israeli swimmer in the world round, while the best achievement of an Israeli swimmer remains Yaakov Tomarkin's eighth place from last year.
The highlight of the night was provided by the American Katie Ledecky, who smashed the world record in the 800 freestyle.
The Olympic champion set 7:57.42 minutes and offset about two seconds from the previous record, which belonged to Miriam Belmonte of Spain and held since 2013. This is Ledecky's second world record in the round, after she also broke the record in the 1,500 freestyle last week in Toronto.
Also from the Israeli angle, on the last day of the competitions, Denis Loktev set a fast time in the 200 freestyle, 1:44.22 minutes, and finished in tenth place, only 17 hundredths away from qualifying for the final.
Daniel Namir set a time of 1:47.12 minutes and finished 26th. In the 200 breaststroke, Chris Fitchugin set a time of 2:23.02 minutes and finished 36th.
With the end of the competition, Gorbenko remains in the United States and will hold a training camp in Berkeley, California, next to the swimming association's chief advisor David Marsh and together with her teammate Leah Polonsky. Picchugin and Loktev will return to Georgia and Louisville, respectively, for the rest of the season in the college league, and Daniel Namir will return to Arizona, where he trains with the college team.
