FC Bayern made it into the round of 16 in the Champions League with great authority.
But the group victory does not turn out to be an advantage.
Munich - In the group stage of the Champions League, FC Bayern didn't let anything burn.
The Nagelsmann team were unimpressed by the fact that FC Barcelona and Inter Milan were two other top-class players.
The other German teams also did well: Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are also in the last 16.
The draw for the CL round of 16 will take place at 12 noon next Monday (November 7th).
As a group winner there are supposedly easier opponents waiting for FC Bayern - you might think.
However, the peculiarities of the premier class ensure that this is not the case.
FC Bayern: Four possible draws in the Champions League round of 16
There are eight runners-up.
Munich are not allowed to meet Bundesliga teams in the round of 16, Inter Milan as group opponents is also taboo.
This leaves only four teams that can be drawn for the record champions: Paris St. Germain, Liverpool FC, AC Milan and FC Bruges.

So Munich threatens three big chunks, only FC Brugge can be classified as a supposedly easier lot.
So was winning the group actually a disadvantage?
Rather not.
Even if FC Bayern had finished second in the group, the choice of opponents would have been larger, but not necessarily easier.

Mathematician calculates: FC Liverpool most likely opponent of FC Bayern
It will also be difficult for the other German round of 16.
But there are no easy opponents in the knockout stage of the Champions League anyway.
Interesting: A French mathematician calculated the probabilities of the round of 16 pairings.
According to Julien Guyon from the Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, Liverpool FC is the most likely Bayern opponent (37.12 percent).

They are followed by the Italian champions AC Milan (23.95 percent).
PSG and Brugge are at 19.46 percent, making them the least likely opponents.
It will be exciting to see whether UEFA can make the draw flawlessly this time.
It had to be repeated last year because constellations were drawn that were not possible at all.
