Can national coach Hansi Flick plan with Thomas Müller at the World Cup?
An update from the national player gives reason for hope.
Munich – Thomas Müller celebrated Bayern's 6-1 goal celebration against Bremen on Tuesday evening from his seat in the Allianz Arena.
An unfortunately all too familiar sight in recent weeks.
While his team-mates play their opponents dizzy down on the pitch, the international has to make himself comfortable in the spectator stands.
For Müller it is currently a test of patience and a race against time.
Most recently, problems in the adductor muscles slowed him down.
Before that, back problems and a corona and gastrointestinal infection meant that the 33-year-old only made three short appearances for FC Bayern throughout October.
Müller gives an update on the healing process
On Monday, Müller's original comeback plan to be back in the squad for Munich's home game against Schalke (November 12) dissolved into thin air.
Julian Nagelsmann announced at a press conference that he was no longer planning with Müller before the World Cup so as not to risk a setback or further injury.
The Bavarian veteran should and can therefore concentrate fully on the rehabilitation process in order to get fit in time for the World Cup in Qatar.
And according to their own statement, this process is going according to plan so far.
When asked about his current condition, Müller replied to the German Press Agency during the win against Bremen: "Good, everything is on track".
A small update that gives hope.
World Cup squad announcement on Thursday - Müller seems to be set
Müller plays an important role in the plans of national coach Hansi Flick - not just as an extended coaching arm on the pitch.
After striker Timo Werner lost the World Cup, Flick's simulation games with Müller as a potential striker are likely to have become even more relevant.
Especially since Flick could also follow the Bayern model of the last few weeks and use the in-form Jamal Musiala on the ten.
On Thursday, the national coach will present his eagerly awaited World Cup squad.
Flick can take 26 players to Qatar - a place for Müller will definitely be reserved.
