Maccabi Tel Aviv demands that the derby be held without an outside audience Israel today

2022-11-10T15:03:53.111Z

As published in Israel Hayom, the Yellows appealed to the police, the league administration and the basketball union to prevent the Reds' fans from being present at Menorah Hall • "Warning of an impending disaster"

The Tel Aviv derby is approaching and the spirits for it are heating up.

As revealed in "Israel Today", Maccabi Tel Aviv sent a letter of demand in recent days to the Israel Police, the league administration and the basketball association demanding that outside audiences no longer be allowed to enter the derby games.

When the representatives of the Reds applied to receive the allocation of the 1,000 tickets that they are entitled to by law, they received the letter in question from the Yellows in return, which read: "The judges warn of an impending disaster.

Swearing and swearing is one thing, but throwing objects and risking lives that make families avoid coming is another thing that we cannot accept.

And this despite all the measures we have taken. We can no longer bear the responsibility for the safety of the spectators at the derby games, not from the perspective of the Hapoel Tel Aviv fans and the difficult scenes of the evacuation of an entire stand in the last derby, as well as other events that have occurred over the years."

In conclusion it is written: "In light of all of the above, we are under no circumstances prepared to accept responsibility as explained regarding public safety in the Tel Aviv basketball derby.

We have suggested in the past and we repeat and suggest not allowing fans of visiting teams to come to the host's home hall.

Should it be decided otherwise, we demand full indemnification, a clear announcement regarding the identity of the person responsible, and to know clearly who will be blamed if and when, God forbid, a disaster occurs.

Under no circumstances will we allow unreasonable amounts such as bringing in a thousand fans or closing a special stand as a condition in the past from the police."

The Reds turned to the league's administration when it scheduled a discussion on the matter, when the fine for not selling tickets to an outside audience is 70 thousand shekels.

The Reds' stands are empty in the Winner Cup final,

"Dehumanization"

The Red Club stated: "Imagine that Hapoel Tel Aviv decides to do justice to itself and that it pays for it not to allow an outside crowd in the game against Holon. Imagine that Yaakov Shahar decides to do justice to himself and not to let the Maccabi fans into the game at Sami Ofer. Imagine that Alona Barkat decides to do herself justice and not to let the fans in Maccabi Haifa for a game in Turner. For Hapoel fans, this is not an imagination. Maccabi, which is probably afraid of our development in the last year, has freed itself to do the only thing in which it is still one of the best in Europe - dehumanizing its competitors and then blowing the horn.

"We are sorry that Maccabi Tel Aviv chooses to heat up the atmosphere for the derby, not for the first time. We will make it clear that all responsibility for the consequences of this conduct rests on the shoulders of the Maccabi Tel Aviv people. We expect the league management to manage the league and ensure that the regulations are followed. Hapoel Tel Aviv calls on its fans Don't fall into the trap and don't be dragged into the violent actions that Maccabi Tel Aviv is waiting for in order to later rake in media capital. We will all be in Yad Eliyahu on 20.11 at 21:00 in the derby game. We call on the sports fans in Israel not to sit idly by. Today it's Maccabi Tel Aviv in basketball who are abusing the Hapoel fans, tomorrow it could be another management that will act in the same way against you."
