The German national football team announced the absence of Marc-Andre ter Stegen from the team due to illness, less than a week before the start of the 2022 World Cup.
The club said in a statement on its official website that Ter Stegen suffers from a stomach ailment and will be absent from the team for this period, to join him as soon as he recovers from the pain he feels to play the German national team matches in the World Cup.
The German national team is competing in Group E during the World Cup, which includes Spain, Germany, Japan and Costa Rica.
