So that's it, my days as an actor are over and it's hard.

Wow, how hard is that?

No matter how much a player prepares for retirement, it won't help.

Think that a soccer player, who goes to practice every day for 30 years, suddenly gets up in the morning and scrambles.

Now go look for yourself.

I don't have a high school diploma, I don't have an academic degree (I checked, the Toto Cup doesn't hold), and the truth is that apart from football and family, nothing interests me.

I will now have plenty of family time, but what else?

After retirement I felt like an empty vessel, that I was nothing and nothing.

All my life I've gotten used to being someone, that I'm someone who elicits reactions from people, good or bad, that I touch people's feelings - anger, sadness, joy, but touching.

and now what?

Where am I supposed to get the same thrill of a good dribble?

of a gate?

of victory?

of hearing thousands of people call my name?

Less wet bosses in the ear.

Dear reader, if you are a pre-retirement player I will help you right now - you won't get it anywhere else.

it's impossible.

I did a skydive, and it doesn't even come close to the ball in the net.

Besides, even after the parachute opens there is about ten minutes of slow descent, where you make small talk with your guide, who is strapped to your ass.

Out of boredom in the skies we started talking about weather changes and archaeology.

In short, it's not that.

I've always said that I wouldn't miss being looked at in the middle of a bite at a restaurant, or being given a wet kiss on the inside of the ear on the street, and it's true.

I really like my privacy every day.

I still get a lot of love on the street, especially when I walk around Beer Sheva, which is amazing to me.

It makes me feel like I've left a mark and fills me with pride.

Of course, over time this also passes, and every now and then a fan calls me: "Meli, Meli, Meli, Meli, Meli, Meli, Meli, Meli, Meli", and I answer: "Yes honey, what do you need? A picture?"

And he answers: "No, call Ramsey Spurry for a moment."

Or some eight-year-old boy gives me his phone and asks me to take a picture of him with Ayad Abu Abid.

I've never been one to crave attention.

I liked to stay in my corner and enjoy the game itself, and I knew that once I did a good enough job, everyone around me would follow.

As a child I dreamed of only one thing - to be a footballer, and it's terrible.

It sounds great, but it's terrible.

So many things could change along the way, if it's an injury, a decrease in ability, bad luck or just poor professional ability, then what?

This is what happens to most footballers, by the way.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but a very small percentage of the players currently playing in the youth divisions will reach the highest levels in Israel and be able to make a decent living from the profession.

You have to take that into account.

Do not put all the chips in one place, unless you have a king set, then there is no choice.

Make no mistake, it is fine to give everything on the way to the big dream, which is to be a footballer, but take into account children, or parents of children, or people who in the future will have children, or will adopt children, or will kidnap children - there is also an option where it simply won't happen.

The career of a footballer is not easy.

It's insanely fun, but not easy.

It's true, we got paid to do what we love most in the world, but it comes with a lot of responsibility and expectations.

Much less exciting than football.

My nine year old son Liam asked me who is a better footballer, me or him.

Of course I said I was.

He is nine years old, with all due respect.

But then he asked, "No, when I grow up, who will be better, me or you?"

So I told him, "I don't know honey, and if you don't become a footballer?".

"Why not?"

He asked.

He is so naive that he thinks that anyone who wants to be a footballer really will be a footballer.

I wish we all saw the world like nine year olds.

I kissed him with lots of love and yelled at him to go tidy up the room already.

insolent.

Would I want Liam to be a footballer?

The answer is very simple - let him do what makes him smile.

If football makes him smile?

Nice, great fun.

If what makes him happy is working in the disposable tools department at Rami Levy?

Excellent, I will fully support him.

As soon as he smiles, I will smile.

And I have a terrible smile.
