France captain Hugo Lloris has now decided not to take part in a UEFA campaign.

Paris – The 2022 World Cup is getting closer, the controversial tournament in Qatar begins on November 20th.

Of course, one of the big favorites will also be there: defending champions France.

In September, the European Football Association (UEFA) launched a campaign to draw attention to all forms of discrimination: the rainbow armband.

The Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper was asked if he would wear the armband in the latest press conference before leaving for the desert state.

His answer: "When we welcome foreigners in France, we often want them to abide by our rules and respect our culture - and I will do the same when I go to Qatar.

Whether I agree with their ideas or not, I have to respect that.”

So Lloris rejects the bandage - in contrast to Germany's captain.

In the

interview, Manuel Neuer emphasized that he and the DFB will position themselves.

Lloris' decision has a history.

France's federation president Noël Le Graët recently emphasized in an interview with L'Équipe that he would prefer the 35-year-old not to wear the rainbow armband.

The keyword was "respect".

The French want to bring this to the host country, as Lloris' PK statement made clear again.

After all: The French number one also indicated that he wanted to separate his personal opinion from the situation.

And Lloris also announced that the world champion wanted to show his protest mood in a different way.
