The CEO of the Leagues Directorate beat the representative of the Scottish League, Neil Doncaster, at the organization's General Assembly in Porto.

The CEO of the Football Leagues Directorate, Nicholas Lev, was elected today (Thursday) to the board of the European leagues, after defeating the representative of the Scottish league, Neil Doncaster, at the organization's general assembly meeting in Porto. Javier Tabas, the president of the Spanish league, was one of the prominent public supporters of the Israeli representative's candidacy.

The European leagues is the umbrella organization that brings together 40 league administrations from across Europe, starting with the most senior leagues and ending with developing leagues.

The organization's board of directors has 13 representatives, including representatives of the top leagues - English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, and starting today, and for the first time, an Israeli representative as well.

The organization represents the interests of the local professional leagues vis-a-vis UEFA, the European players' organization, the European Union and the club organization on diverse issues such as the idea of holding a World Cup every two years, and the initiative to establish the Super League (initiatives to which the organization strongly opposes).

Among other things, the organization formulated the new data agreement in cooperation with the representative of the leagues' management, attorney Motti Bronstein, who brought hundreds of millions of shekels into the professional leagues in Europe from arranging the data collection for the betting market abroad on soccer games.

Another step promoted in the organization of the European leagues is the increase of solidarity for clubs that do not participate in the European establishments;

To illustrate, this year sums of over 2.5 million euros were allocated for the benefit of the youth departments of the Premier League teams that did not compete in the group stages of the European establishments.

Lev: "I am proud to be part of the board of the European leagues and happy for the trust that the members of the general assembly chose to place in the representative of Israeli football.

When the administration was established, we received a lot of support, knowledge and assistance from the international European leagues community and in 2017 we even hosted the representatives of the leagues to a conference where they were exposed to Israeli innovation.

Part of the management's vision was to integrate into the activity and contribute back, and I am happy that our activity over the years has been recognized by the European leagues in a way that will allow us to continue promoting the joint activity, with an emphasis on the areas of innovation and business development in which we have contributed, and we will continue to contribute to the organization.

I would like to thank the chairman of the administration Erez Kalfon, attorney Moti Bronstein, the employees of the administration and the representatives of the European leagues for expressing their trust and support in me personally and in Israeli football in general."
