Schumacher-Aus fixed at Haas: Separation statement speaks volumes

Mick Schumacher's dream has burst for the time being: the Formula 1 driver and Haas are going their separate ways.

His place is taken by compatriot Nico Hülkenberg.

Munich - That's it!

Mick Schumacher and Haas separate.

This was announced by the racing team and the son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher on Thursday morning.

The German's contract will not be extended, instead the Americans sign Nico Hülkenberg, an experienced driver who was last without a permanent cockpit.

For a long time there had been uncertainty about the future of Mick Schumacher (23).

His performances in the premier class were too inconsistent, he was never able to consistently bring his talent to the asphalt.

Has Schumacher's dream of Formula 1 burst?

It's looking difficult at the moment.

There is only one vacant spot in the driver's field: at Williams.

Apparently, they are committed to Logan Sargeant if he qualifies for the so-called super license in the current Formula 2 season.

The American almost certainly has this starting permission for Formula 1.

Nico Hulkenberg takes over Mick Schumacher's Formula 1 cockpit at Haas

Schumacher's compatriot Hülkenberg (35), on the other hand, can look forward to his comeback.

He has not had a permanent seat since the end of 2019, and now he will be driving for Haas in the coming season together with the Dane Kevin Magnussen.

Hülkenberg and Magnussen of all people - the two drivers had repeatedly clashed in the past.

Schumacher's Instagram statement, which he posted Thursday morning, spoke volumes: "This will be my last race for the Haas F1 Team.

I don't want to hide that I'm very disappointed with the decision not to renew our contract.

I would like to say a big thank you to Haas F1, Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari Driver Academy for giving me this opportunity.

The years together have allowed me to mature both athletically and personally.

And just when things got difficult, I realized how much I love this sport.”

Schumacher continued: "It was bumpy at times, but I've steadily improved, learned a lot and now I know for sure that I deserve a place in Formula 1.

The topic is far from over for me.

Setbacks only make you stronger.

My fire burns for Formula 1 and I will fight hard to get back on the grid."

Günther Steiner thanks Mick Schumacher "for his contribution"

Haas team boss Günther Steiner was quoted as saying in a press release: "The Haas team and Mick Schumacher will go their separate ways at the end of the season.

We would like to thank Mick for his contribution to the team over the past two years.

He has continued to grow as a driver with us and although we are now parting ways the whole team wishes Mick all the best for the future.”

In the past few months, there have always been complicated situations at Haas.

Steiner did not give Schumacher the support he would have wished for.

Schumacher's uncle Ralf recently sharply criticized the team boss.

Mick Schumacher soon with a job at Mercedes?

Schumacher will only contest the season finale on Sunday (2 p.m. CET / Sky) in Abu Dhabi for the Haas team, where he made his Formula 1 debut in 2021.

So far he has scored two World Championship points with the car that is usually the inferior.

How is this continuing?

Schumacher's future is completely open.

After all: Mercedes recently gave him hopes of a job.
