There had been heated discussions in the Spanish media after the announcement of the World Cup squad (WM-Kader DFB).
On average, the team is only 25.62 years old – only the USA and Ghana squads are younger.
Old stars like ex-Bayern player Thiago, defense boss Sergio Ramos or goalkeeper David de Gea were not even considered.
In Qatar, coach Luis Enrique is consistently continuing the “Jugend forscht” course that he started at the European Championships last year.
World Cup 2022: Only one Bundesliga player in Spain's young squad
Spain's national coach hadn't sent his first eleven out on the pitch yet, he said before the match he wanted to give some of the players match practice.
RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo, the only Bundesliga professional in the Spanish squad, came on in the 58th minute.
Left-back Jose Gaya also suffered a minor ankle injury and missed the friendly against Jordan on Wednesday.
He could also miss the World Cup opener when Spain meet Costa Rica on Wednesday.
On November 27 (8 p.m.) there will be a duel with Germany in Group E, followed by the game against Japan on December 1 (schedule for the 2022 World Cup).
