Munich – Was that still proportionate?

In the regional league derby between Türkgücü Munich and FC Bayern II, the game was abandoned this Saturday (November 19) in Heimstetten.

The police were on site with helmeted USK forces and used pepper spray and batons against fans of the German Bundesliga record champions.

These had apparently shown a forbidden banner.

Regional league derby between Türkgücü Munich and FC Bayern II: police action against fans

According to initial information, it is a banner from the "FC Bayern Fan Club Kurdistan" that was attached to an advertising board by the supporters.

Kurdistan is a region between Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran.

The states concerned do not recognize the Kurdish region politically as a state, while on Iraqi territory it has an autonomous status with its own administration.

The Turkish army repeatedly takes action against Kurdish independence efforts.

Apparently this banner caused the game to be abandoned in the derby between Türkgücü Munich and FC Bayern II.

Pepper spray and batons: the police are tough on FC Bayern Munich fans

The Federal Republic of Germany also does not recognize the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan as a state.

A letter from the German Bundestag states: "An independent 'recognition' of a state's regional authorities (federal states, autonomous regions, departments, etc.) is not customary internationally." in terms of international law."

It is not yet known why the police operation on the sports grounds west of the Isar metropolis was so violent.

Merkur.de

has a video showing the officials using pepper spray against the trailers.

A police officer repeatedly hit a trailer who was lying on the ground and had stumbled backwards on the steps with a baton.

Only after several hits on the defenseless man does the USK police officer withdraw his baton.

FC Bayern has so far not commented on the incidents on request.

So far, no contact person has been available from Türkgücü either.
