Sunday in Qatar: So far, it doesn't feel like a World Cup | Israel today

Instead of fans singing in the streets, in Doha loud music is played on huge loudspeakers • Maybe it's because they are new, maybe even the high prices, but right now it doesn't feel like it was in Russia 4 years ago • Dor Hoffman sums up Sunday

I write the first diary in Qatar - which continues the tradition that started in Russia and continued in Tokyo - from the hotel room.

Outside, huge speakers are playing songs like Makrana and that World Cup song by Shakira, and I feel like going downstairs and disconnecting all their cables.

I've only been here for a day, but I want to scream at them: not like this!

Enough already!

That's not how it's done!

What are you new to the business?

You have no idea?

Let the fans be heard, let them feel the atmosphere!

The thing is, there isn't currently.

I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

Apparently they are really new.

I can't explain why - maybe because of the high prices, maybe because of the desire to boycott this tournament, maybe because it's still early - but there is no World Cup atmosphere here.

There are here and there fans from all kinds of countries and places, mainly Latinos and Africans, but it is so different from what was in Russia four years ago.

I want to believe that it will change, but another vision for the time being.

I arrived here on the night between Friday and Saturday after spending seven hours connecting in Abu Dhabi.

I went into town to have dinner there and after choosing a Burger King (something good with barbecue sauce) I returned to the airport and found out that there was also a branch there.

By the way, on the flight I had Mexicans, Ecuadorians, Tunisians and Moroccans with me and at one point they all sang "Messi, Messi, Messi".

I barely slept, but I had to collect the accreditation (permit to enter the lots).

There are three centers for collecting accreditations here in Doha, and because I am a big manchus, I was mistakenly sent to the wrong two before they told me that it was actually on the third.

The main thing is that I have it.

The first day we spent the tests in the studio of Khan11, which I will be a part of.

My job was to report from the promenade, called Corniche, about the situation of Argentina and Leo Messi.

At first there were no fans there at all, but little by little some of them arrived, including four Argentines who rode bicycles for six months and, among other things, moved to Israel and fell in love with Haifa.

Later there were insults that made me happy, but that's where it ends.

Argentina fans.

In terms of food, I ate a dreamy sandwich and a lot of cakes.

There is everything here and nothing is cheap.

The general feeling is that everyone really wants football to start already, so that it is possible to stop with the big fake and start with the thing that cannot be faked - football.

I am in favor.
