The captain of the Israeli national team, Beavers Natcho, gathered the players at the end of the match against Cyprus (3:2) and asked them to sign the shirt he was playing with.
The players were surprised by the request and some even speculated that this might be his last game in the national uniform.
"He didn't ask for the shirt for a child or a close friend, that's why it was strange," said one of the players in the national team, who added: "Here in the dressing room, there is tremendous respect for Natcho. Whatever he decides is between himself and himself."
Beyond that, coach Alon Hazan admitted at the end that "the disappointment of Neta Lavi's injury is greater than the loss."
The Maccabi Haifa midfielder felt the muscle only 16 minutes after coming on and asked to be substituted.
Lavi will undergo a comprehensive examination before going on vacation, hoping that it is not a tear.
