The Erding Gladiators beat the Wild Lions from Amberg 5:1 and record the next six-point weekend.

Erding - Important three for the Erding Gladiators - and the next six-point weekend.

Team boss Felix Schütz's team won 5-1 (0-1, 4-0, 1-0) against ERSC Amberg on Sunday evening and is therefore on course for the championship round.

Schütz described the game against the Wild Lions as "an incredibly important game in the fight for eighth place".

He had to replace around half a dozen players and was only able to muster three blocks.

The Gladiators started stormy and had the first chance after 38 seconds through Ryan Murphy, but Timon Bätge saved.

The Amberg goalkeeper did a far greater feat in the 4th minute when Erdinger outnumbered Florian Zimmermann when the Erdinger fans already had the goal scream on their lips.

Then the Wild Lions had the majority and it took just nine seconds for Felix Köbele to beat Erding's keeper Thomas Hingel to make it 1-0 (5th).

The hosts pushed the pace but the ERSC goal seemed sealed.

The Ambergers now acted very cleverly, closed the spaces at the back and relied on counterattacks, which were always dangerous, especially when Brett Mennear was at the disc.

After Bätge had stopped a solo run by Sebastian Busch (19th), there was a break.

The second third was just 150 seconds old when Bätge, of all people, who had been outstanding up to that point, made a fatal mistake.

A second before a penalty against Rudi Lorenz expired, Daniel Krzizok chased a liberating blow in the direction of the Amberger Tor.

Bätge wanted to play the puck forward again, but put it on the racket of Lorenz, who came from the penalty box and scored to make it 1-1.

And just 32 seconds later, Philipp Michl gave the Gladiators a 2-1 lead after preparatory work by Lukas Krämmer.

Hingel saved the narrow lead with a sensational save against Daniel Krieger (27th).

The strong Busch then made it 3:1 in the 32nd minute and even made it 4:1 54 seconds before the end of the period.

Amberg's coach Dirk Salinger sent Carsten Metz between the posts in the final third to set an impulse again.

The Wild Lions were now in charge, but when one of Roni Rukajärvi's notorious slap shots to make it 5-1 in the visitors' goal when Erdinger had the majority, it was the final decision (52').

Statistics: Goals/Assists: 0:1 (5th) Köbele (Pronath, Kirchberger/5-4), 1:1 (23rd) Lorenz (Krzizok), 2:1 (24th) Michl (Krämmer), 3: 1 (32nd) Busch (Rukajärvi), 4: 1 (40th) Busch (Wallek), 5: 1 (52nd) Rukajärvi (Busch/5-4) – Spectators: 650 – HSR: Michael Kees – Penalty minutes: Erding 6, Amberg 14.
