The Qatar national team lost to Ecuador with two unanswered goals in the opening match of the World Cup finals, which was held at Al Bayt Stadium in Doha for Group A, which includes Senegal and the Netherlands.
In the 13th minute, the Italian match referee Daniele Orsato canceled a goal for Ecuador after returning to the mouse because it was preceded by an offside situation, and in the 16th minute Ecuador scored the first goal from a penalty kick fired by Ener Valencia, and the Ecuadorian national team continued its progress, taking advantage of the confusion in the ranks of the Qatari team, and Valencia returned to add the goal The second from a surprise header in the 31st minute.
With the start of the second half, the Qatari team tried to advance to its opponent’s area and reduce the difference, but the latter cut off all its attempts to penetrate, and Qatar’s attempts remained without any danger. The match ended with Ecuador winning 2-0.
This is the first participation of Qatar in the World Cup finals as the host team for the World Cup, while it is the fourth for Ecuador.
