In Qatar, the five African selections are led by local or bi-national coaches: Jalel Kadri (Tunisia), Rigobert Song (Cameroon), Otto Addo (Ghana), Aliou Cissé (Senegal) and Walid Regragui (Morocco).
The former pro (Racing, Toulouse, AC Ajaccio, Santander, Dijon, Grenoble), 46, was the last named, on August 31, replacing Vahid Halilhodžić who had nevertheless qualified the Atlas Lions for their seventh World Cup.
