Welsh fans at the World Cup in Qatar got into trouble entering the stadium for wearing rainbow hats, British media reports said.

These were taken from female supporters ahead of their team's 1-1 draw with the United States on Monday night at Al-Rajjan's Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.

This was reported, among others, by the Guardian and the newspaper Independent.

Hats specially made

The traditional hats, called buckets, had fans made with colored stripes as a sign of solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community, in partnership with the Football Association of Wales (FAW).

The FAW now wants to audition at Fifa.

In a statement, the association said it was "extremely disappointed" with the reports.

They have "gathered information about these alleged incidents and will discuss the matter directly with Fifa today," it said.

Among other things, Laura McAllister, a former captain of the Wales women's national team and a self-confessed homosexual, reported that she was asked by the security forces to take off her rainbow hat before the game against USA (1-1).

According to the Qatari organizers, wearing clothes in rainbow colors is not a problem for them.

Yesterday there was a misunderstanding on the part of the security forces.

However, the spectators dressed in this way still came to the stadium.

The teams from Islamic countries had the plan to wear anti-Islamophobia symbols.

That was also banned by the world association Fifa.
