Japanese football fans are known for their exemplary behavior.
At the World Cup in Russia four years ago, supporters caused a stir by cleaning up their stands themselves after their team's win against Colombia.
Now history is repeating itself in Qatar: The Japanese are also showing their best side in the desert state – although their team has not yet entered the tournament: After the opening game between Ecuador and Qatar, Japanese spectators grabbed bags to empty bottles and paper waste from to eliminate the ranks.
Pictures show Japanese fans being hugged by locals for their dedication.
The Japanese see their clean-up actions as a matter of course.
As such, she had also described comparable behavior at the World Cup in Brazil eight years ago.
In 2018, they brought order to their stands despite a bitter last-minute defeat by Belgium.
This discipline was evidently contagious.
Among other things, a few fans from Senegal cleaned up their area after their team's 2-1 win over Poland.
