– For many DFB stars like Karim Adeyemi, Youssoufa Moukoko or Jamal Musiala, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is the first World Cup that they can experience as a player.

But the World Cup is not only the biggest sporting event of a career for the players themselves.

Even moderators or commentators often work for years to be part of a World Cup.

The 28-year-old reports live from the German quarter for ARD at the 2022 World Cup.

At the World Cup opener of the DFB-Elf against Japan, the presenter conducted interviews with the German stars and also reports on the events surrounding the DFB-Elf.

Lea Wagner was born with a love of football.

The 28-year-old is the daughter of former Schalke 04 coach David Wagner.

The whole family is very good friends with Jürgen Klopp.

Lea's godfather is, although it is often reported, but Klopp is not.

That only applies to her big sister Lynn.

Lea Wagner: World Cup 2006 as the starting signal for your career

Although Wagner has an absolute dream career as a sports presenter, she is the youngest presenter in the history of the sports program "Sport im Third", she did not want to have anything to do with sports when she was a child.

The reason?

Her father.

Due to her dad's many club changes, the young Lea Wagner often had to change her place of residence and her circle of friends.

That's why she wanted to be an actress.

I didn't really understand the game itself, but I remember that it was a total party, a joint, exuberant celebration," the reporter revealed to the Stuttgart city magazine.

After that, nothing stopped Wagner from becoming a sports presenter.

She completed her studies and traineeship in quick succession and has been working for the sports department of SWR television since 2018.

In 2021, Wagner also succeeded Matthias Opdenhövel as the permanent moderator of the ski jumping broadcasts in the ARD sports show.

In general, the year 2021 was an eventful one for the young presenter.

Wagner worked for ARD at the European Football Championship and the Olympic Games and also took over the moderation of the new "Sports Show 2nd League".

Lea Wagner: After the World Cup, things will continue straight away

Wagner doesn't have much time to catch his breath after the World Cup in Qatar (that's the schedule for the 2022 World Cup).

The next major event for the 28-year-old is on December 28th.

Then the Four Hills Tournament begins with the qualification in Oberstdorf.
