Asensio: "I'm very happy with the goal"

The hangover from Spain-Costa Rica only leaves positive reactions.

And one of the players who has come out stronger is Marco Asensio, a substitute at Real Madrid, but who started as a starter for Luis Enrique in the World Cup debut.

"I'm very good, a great game came out in general for the whole team and I personally am very happy for the goal and for being able to contribute many things to the team. I'm adjusting to what the coach asks of me, but I'm very comfortable with what that he is transmitting to me and the confidence that he is giving me", Asensio stated this Thursday at a press conference.

Lack of interest in Germany towards their selection

Only 9.23 million Germans followed the defeat of their team against Japan (2-1) on television on Wednesday.

The audience for the meeting, broadcast on the public channel ARD, was 59.7%, less than ten million people.

The figure is well below that of four years ago in Russia, when the German premiere brought together 26 million viewers in their country, a screen share of 81.6%.

This has been the highlight of the fourth day of the World Cup:

Spain thrashes Costa Rica in their World Cup debut.

The Spanish team has achieved a historic win against Costa Rica in its debut at the World Cup in Qatar.

Ferran Torres has scored two goals, adding to those of Dani Olmo, Asensio, Gavi, Carlos Soler and Morata to round off the most bulky result for Spain in a World Cup match.

Luis Enrique's men completed an almost perfect match, with many chances in their favor and without letting Costa Rica leave their field.

The Costa Ricans have not been able to finish off on goal even once.

Japan surprises by beating Germany.

The German team has lost to Japan (1-2) and begins its World Cup career with a defeat for the second consecutive edition.

Gundogan has passed Flick's men, but with the changes, the game has gotten out of control and Japan has equalized the contest through Doan.

Later, a great goal from Asano with almost no angle set off the surprise.

German pressure from the start of the game had generated many dangerous situations.

Players of the German national team cover their mouths in protest before the game against Japan.

Footballers have made this gesture in protest of pressure from FIFA to prevent national team captains from wearing OneLove armbands during matches.

The organization threatened the teams with yellow cards if they wore these bracelets.

Luis Enrique: "It has always been said that this team lacks a goal, but we get to it in an associative way"

Ladislao J. Monino

The openwork casing with Arabic motifs that surrounded the Al Thumama stadium enclosed within it the silences typical of the artificial fans that are common in this World Cup.

There were not many Spaniards and the noisy Costa Ricans located in one of the funds had little time to show enthusiasm.

Luis Enrique's team was in charge of breaking those silences with seven goals and a catwalk of details and technical gestures that broke into murmurs of admiration.

The architects of the exhibition of Spain against Costa Rica, one by one

Lorenzo Calonge

A scandalous win, as exciting and historic as the one the Spanish team starred in against Costa Rica (7-0) in their World Cup debut game in Qatar, has multiple protagonists.

Scorers, especially, but not only strikers like Marco Asensio or Morata, who in the last minutes of the match got rid of the fears (if he had them) that gripped him in the first games of the last Euro Cup.

Also midfielders, like Carlos Soler or Gavi, the youngest on the team.

This is the analysis, one by one, of the architects of the exhibition of the Red in his debut.

Pedro Sánchez defends the King's presence in Qatar

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has defended this Wednesday the presence of King Felipe VI in the match against Costa Rica, with which the Spanish team opens the World Cup in Qatar.

"There is no better delegation that can represent Spain", he has defended.

When asking him if he would like the captain of the team to wear a bracelet in support of the LGTBI collective (an initiative considered by several countries and before which FIFA warned that whoever wore it would be penalized with a yellow card), he highlighted the position he has taken always maintained the Government in defense of their rights.

"The Government's commitment to the defense, promotion and recognition of the rights and freedoms of the LGTBI collective and the labor rights of all workers is beyond any doubt", he stressed.
