The female basketball youths of TSV Weilheim are more successful this season than they have been for years.

After a total of eight games in their district leagues, the U14s and U16s are both unbeaten leaders.

A junior offensive launched a few years ago by the Weilheim basketball players in their girls' teams is bearing fruit: last season, the U14s were undefeated champions in the district class.

The trainers Florian Willkomm and Sven Rieber decided, now that half of their players have reached the U16 age limit, even to register both teams this season in the higher-class district league.

"Recently we were able to integrate a few talented young players," says Florian Willkomm.

Almost 30 eleven to 15-year-olds currently belong to the joint training group of both teams.

Trainer team

U14 players

: Alicia Laux, Johanna Horn, Melina Papaioannou, Megi Hagrepi, Greta Hagrepi, Victoria Kessler, Finja Schauff, Caro Seitz, Marie Lübbers, Sienna Rottenfusser, Anna Maria Philipp, Annalena Schneider, Lavinia Neidhart, Alma Kluge, Helena Stuttmann, One Anter

U16 players

: Lea Kiefersauer, Clara Hagenauer, Johanna Willkomm, Charlotte Rieber, Annika Behre, Alina Hügen, Fenja Folkerts, Redola Thaqi, Stella Alf, Lilly Kraus, Lena Greinwald

The breadth of the squad is also the great strength compared to other teams.

This became clear last Sunday when the U14s won 23:82 away at TSV Gräfelfing despite several absences due to illness.

It was her third clear win in game three, for a goal difference of plus 164 overall

points in these three games.

Several U14 players are also regularly in action with the older ones.

Their record is similarly impressive in the U16 district league Oberbayern-West: With five wins so far, they are currently unbeaten at the top of the league with a total of nine teams.

While the games could be won with around 25 points on average, a narrow 55:59 derby victory at TSV Penzberg was the toughest challenge so far.

"And a valuable experience for the girls because they kept fighting and only took the lead just before the end of the game," says Willkomm.

U16 top game against Murnau on Sunday

However, the U16 Weilheimers will face what is probably the toughest competition for the championship this Sunday, November 27th: From 11.30 a.m. ESV Staffelsee will be guests in the Roentgen Hall (middle school).

For organizational reasons, the Murnau women have only played two games so far, but won them well.

"You know each other - the championship will probably only go through Murnau and Penzberg," believes Willkomm.
