Once again, the ice hockey club Peiting showed a strong performance against leaders Weiden.

David Diebolder and Lukas Gohlke scored for the ECP.

Peiting

– In the end it's all about points.

They're the ones talked about at the end of the season - and they decide where a team stands.

With regard to the duels with the Blue Devils Weiden, this is bitter for EC Peiting.

For the second time this season, coach Anton Saal's team showed a very good performance against the top team in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd - and still got nothing.

The people from Peitingen lost 2:3 to the top of the table in front of their own audience.

The duel was even more competitive than the 6-3 defeat in mid-October.

A fast game develops right from the start on Friday evening.

Both teams have train to goal.

So it's hardly surprising that the first goal falls early.

In the seventh minute, the Peitingen defense lost sight of Alessandro Schmidbauer.

He gets the puck from Luca Gläser and can shoot in undisturbed to make it 1-0.

A short time later, the ECP is in the majority for the first time because Weiden's Dennis Thielsch has to serve a two-minute penalty.

The Peitingen build up pressure, Felix Brassard has the best chance, but the puck flies over the goal.

Even when Thielsch is back on the ice, Peiting stays tuned - and is rewarded.

Captain Andreas Feuerecker storms towards the goal, then puts his backhand on David Diebolder, who scores to equalize.

With the score of 1:1 we go into the break.

Peiting close to equalizing - but Weiden scores

At the beginning of the second period Weiden is in the majority because Feuerecker still has to serve a remaining penalty.

Peiting survives this critical phase.

Also because Florian Hechenrieder fishes the puck out of the air after a shot by Kurt Davis.

But shortly thereafter, the ECP goalie has to admit defeat.

Since Robert Hechtl starts through, in a one-on-one with Hechenrieder, the Weiden attacker prevails.

Peiting's goalkeeper wins his next direct duel with a Weidener.

Thielsch was awarded a penalty in the 29th minute.

He pushes the puck between Hechenrieder's schooners - but also past the goal.

Lucky for the hosts.

As a result, Peiting is actually close to equalizing - but instead, Weiden extends his lead to 3:1 through Neal Samanski.

The ECP is under pressure.

Weiden now dominates the game, but shortly before half-time he is handed two two-minute penalties in a row.

Peiting comes quickly in his power play formation and encircles Weiden.

In the first outnumbered game, there is still no goal.

In the second game, it was Lukas Gohlke who scored the goal to make it 2:3 – eight seconds before the end of the period.

That gives hope for the final section.

The people of Peiting work there.

Thomas Heger had a huge chance in the 50th minute, but his shot bounced off the shoulder of Weiden goalie Marco Wölfl.

When the guests are in the power play again, the ECP players block their shots several times to keep the chance of equalizing.

About two minutes before the end, coach Anton Saal takes a break, then Hechenrieder makes room for a sixth field player.

But no matter how hard Peiting tries, Weiden keeps bringing the puck out of the danger zone.

The seconds ticked by - and in the end the ECP had to admit defeat.

Just barely – but nobody is interested in that anymore at the end of the season.
